The Roots of Communication Skills

My professional background is comedy, and so is the root of everybody’s communication skills. Humour is a universal human trait that exists everywhere in the world and has been around longer than the spoken word. It is the first language we teach our children because it grabs our attention and bonds us together. Humour and laughter helped us evolve our social systems and our ability to understand the world around us. They brought us into the world of language and still keep us connected, amused and innovative.

In my research I strive to achieve the highest level of understanding of all aspects of humour at both an academic and a practical level and then to apply that knowledge in education, entertainment, artificial intelligence and beyond. My approach is comprehensive, detailed and pragmatic: I love results!! We live in the age of communication and it has turned us all into an incredibly demanding audience – we’ve come to expect so much more from leaders, teachers, entertainers and anyone else aiming to command our attention, not to mention our valuable time. It is my passion to understand everything to do with how humour functions and apply it to help people benefit their communication skills, their health and their lives.

Whether you seek a keynote speaker for your event, are looking for coaching to help you speak compellingly to various audiences, need a stand-up comedian for an upcoming event, or you want understand and command your sense of humour from the inside out, you’ve definitely come to the right place. To find out how I can benefit you most drop me a line:

Part of my journey to understand the forms and functions of humour involves learning from other people’s experiences with humour. If you have stories that show an extraordinary example of how humour can be created or the effect it can have, I would love to hear it.

1 – Personal examples of how humour is used in different cultures or by different groups of people

2 – Examples and methods of using humour as a teaching tool

3  – Unusual circumstances or events that produced a humourous responseContact

4 – Anything that shows laughter and/or humour in a new and interesting light

I look forward to hearing from you!
